Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I recently had my second baby 7 months ago and since then I have had pain at the site where I tore and just inside my vagina. It only really hurt if pressure was applied but I have recently had a steroid and anesthetic injection into the vagina area to help treat this. This has made things so much worse as now I have pain all the time. It throbs and burns constantly. I went back to the gynae who treated me and he said that there was no reason for me to be feeling like this. He couldn't say a lot other than I shouldn't be in discomfort and gave me some lidocane gel. I am keen to know if anyone else has experienced this and if it will subside. This was 4 weeks ago. Thank you

Vulvodynia nerve pain after having baby Empty In a similar situation

Post  Kissimmo Wed Dec 24, 2014 11:46 am

Hi there,

This is my first time on this site, I've only just discovered it. Bit overwhelmed by the wealth of information and advice but finally not feeling so alone!

I had my little girl just over 7 years ago. I experienced a third degree. 10 weeks later, we had sex, it really hurt but kind of thought it was normal and would ease with time. A year down the line it was still hurting. I was diagnosed with 'vaginismus' described to me as a pyschological condition that manifests itself physically i.e. it my body was remembering the pain of childbirth and tensing up the muscles and therefore hurting. I had a session of counselling and it was quickly noted that I really didn't have an 'issue'. I then had a year or so of physiotherapy to 'retrain the muscles'. It had no effect. Years followed of frustrating appointments with various people. Eventually a doctor decided I actually wasn't phycially right down there. She did a biopsy and it turned out I have a skin condition called 'lichen planus'. It's an autoimmune thing. They don't know what caused it, perhaps being pregnant or perhaps a weakness around the scar tissue.....but unfortunately there is no cure. However, there are ways of treating the symptoms. Sadly, none of the steroids/creams worked for me. Lidocaine didn't make a difference to the pain either. I am currently on Nortriptyline which is usually used as a anti depressant but in this case can help weaken the nerves down there. So far it hasn't worked, I've been asked to double the dose from 50mg to 100mg and see if that makes any difference.

Looking on here there seems to be so many routes to go down....acupuncture, homeopathy.....I'm not sure where to go next but feel like I need to give this medication a proper shot first.

I'm so sorry your doctor has been so unhelpful! I have just started to see a dermatologist at the hospital who specialises in skin disorders of this area. Would it be possible for you to maybe ask your GP if there is similar in your area and get referred? I forgot to add to 'my story' I also had allergy tests. I have never reacted to anything before so was very surprised to learn I am allergic to fragrance. I have completely stopped using fragrance body washes etc and wash my underwear in non-allergic non-frangranced stuff. It seems childbrith can make this area susceptible to reactions to things, perhaps you didn't react well to the injection? Sorry I haven't been very helpful in offering advice, but hope it's some comfort knowing it's not just you! I really hope things improve for you soon. It's very frustrating I know!
