Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hello everyone, I'm new here and suspect that I have vestibulitis. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2006 and vestibulitis can happen in patients with fibro. My doctor however won't entertain the idea. Crying or Very sad

My symptoms flared up after a horrid UTI I had in May. I tend to get one UTI a year ever since my fibro diagnosis. My body is just insanely sensitive to bacteria. I was given Macrobid for the UTI. A couple weeks later I got a yeast infection from the antibiotics. Canesten cleared that up. A few days later though I had vaginal/vulva burning. This has been going on ever since. Shocked

Some days the burning is just mild. Some days it feels like I've been lit on fire. Sometimes it will completely disappear for a few days but always returns. My dr has checked me for all infections, they're all negative. I went to see her last week and she blew me off. Didn't even examine me which was alarming because I told her that I can clearly see the skin at the base of my vagina (externally) is red and irritated and sometimes the skin leading up to the clitoris gets red too. I'm positive that the bottom vaginal area is where the burning originates and then refers pain into other areas.

She is still insisting that my bladder is the problem and doesn't seem to care that VV can cause burning on urination and frequent urination even without infection. She seemed to be quite offended that I have taken the time to do my research. I don't fit the criteria for cystitis. VV fits me perfectly. The only thing I don't have is pain with sex or tampon use. Symptoms actually improve a great deal during my period. I get some minor irritation the day after sex but it's not excruciating. Occasionally I will have very small cuts on the vulva which I have also read can happen with this illness. Rolling Eyes

My doc has me taking Macrobid after sex and Diflucan once a week for the next 3 months. She also gave me triacomb ointment. On top of this I take 150mg of amitriptyline for the fibro as well as probiotic capsules and calcium citrate.

I have read that the Macrobid, Diflucan and triacomb combination has helped some people with VV. What bothers me is that my doctor gave me this plan insisting that it's my bladder when it's quite obvious it's not. I'm trying my best to give this plan a try and also did some research for a great gyno in my area should I need to see one.

Any advice you can provide me is greatly appreciated. Has anyone tried Neogyn or calendula ointment? I have read they can be very helpful.

I thought I'd share that I had a very similar story to yours -- UTI, followed by a bacterial vaginosis infection, followed by this burning. I was treated with macrobid as well and actually found it helped with my burning feeling - but I have been taken off of it now as I tested negative for bacterial vaginosis. My doctor suggested I have vulvodynia but I'm awaiting seeing a specialist for treatment.

Thanks for your response Christine Smile Sorry to hear you're dealing with the same problem. I actually don't have any active infection going on, my doctor has me taking antibiotics and anti yeast medications as a preventative as my body seems to be hyper sensitive to even trace amounts that wouldn't even register a response in a "normal" person. Rolling Eyes

I have to follow this plan until November. Shocked I'm trying my best to stick with it and not get frustrated. If things end up getting worse, I'm definitely going to ask her for a referral to a gynecologist as my GP seems to be pretty clueless.

Please do let me know how your appointment goes. Good luck! sunny
