Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

What do you find eases your pain?
Sorry not sure if this question has already been asked...but what do you all find helps ease your vulvodynia pain?If there is anything you find helps that is...My pain is more aching than the burning,I get burning occasionally but it's mostly aching a lot of the time..
I only find epsom salt baths and putting ice on the area, helps a bit sometimes, but was wondering if anyone has anything else I could try..see if it makes a difference! Thanks!

Re: What do you find eases your pain?
Distraction! (my favorite)
Wearing no underwear and a dress
Trimming pubic hair to make sure it dont get to long and sting me! I cant shave it off would hurt to much
Relaxing - deff easier said than done
Expression - just having a good cry or shout!
Sitting using doughnut or just lying down to ease off pressure
Pregabalin, Biofeedback and low wheat/sugar diet seem to be working in combination
Vaseline or Coconut oil if dry and sore
Showering rather than sitting in baths
Nothing but water allowed to touch vulvar area!
easing pain
I lie down and breathe deeply and try to release my pain by imagining that area just inside my vulva is like a rose blooming and I am gently relaxing to it - lightly opening up the petals. Breathing and releasing.

easing pain
This works for me and we are all different.
Olive oil on vula AM/PM
Medication Gabapentin
If in Flare up a bath helps me with Bicarbonate Soda better for me than epsom salts. I also place crystals in the bath to promote healing ( again it works for me) when I let the bath water out I place my hand on the plug hole as the water is draining I visulizse the pain and toxins leaving my body.
Lay on the bed relax deep breathing watch a film play music read whilst sitting on ice just to get over the flare I keep telling myself I will get it back under control.
Every moring I practice Yoga I do it at home as I cannot wear clothing whilst exercising so I do it Naked
(not a pretty site) but it works and its the best no clothes restricting you never would have done this if I hadnt had V
Meditation / prayers
And as I am a Holistic therapist I use Hypnotherapy / Reiki/ crystal healing / acupunture ........ so many different tools.
I work from home so I am lucky I can spend time on myself...... I will try anything and everything I keep an open mind.
Sometimes I have written down all the hurts inside of me and burnt it releasing any negativity still being stored in my body.
To some I may sound like a looney but I am so down to earth its just that I will do anything to get ME back to where I was before this dreaded V came along.
Hope this helps xxxxxx

easing pain
Abdominal breathing - (make sure your belly swells out, rather than your chest). I then breath out very slowly, through my mouth, with pursed lips (like blowing). As I breath out, I imagine I'm blowing the tension / pain away through my V.
I also do an exercise my physiotherapist taught me. - I lie on my back with my knees and feet up (legs bent). I put my hands on my knees and move them around in large circles, while doing abdominal breathing. This apparently helps the pelvic floor to relax.
Another exercise I find helps is to lie on the floor with my butt against a wall and my legs up. I then bend my legs towards my chest, into a position that feels comfortable. I either do abdominal breathing or read a book for a few minutes. It seems to take the pressure off the pelvic floor and I find it relieves the pain for a while. However, I must stress that I made this exercise up myself, so don't know if it would work for others.
Bathing is a favourite of mine. I have bought a sitz-bath (portable bidet), so I can bathe more often without wasting too much water. Salt helps the muscles relax, though sometimes it makes me sting. I put the sitz bath into the big bath, so it doesn't matter if water spills out of it. - Happy relaxation

Re: What do you find eases your pain?
For the achy type pain - learning how to release the muscles involved helps me a lot especially if I can start to do that as I feel them starting to get tight. I had a biofeedback machine to help me identify them when I initially got treatment.
Internal massage also helps - again, I was shown how to do this by my specialist.
Hot packs for the aching pain, ice-packs for the stinging/burning pain.
