Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Accupuncture helps me
Done a few posts this evening and forgot to mention one key thing that has helped me - doh! I've been having accupuncture weekly for the last 5 weeks and i'm now stretching appointments to every 2/3 weeks and then i'll agree with my accupuncturist what my maintenance regime should be. Its not cheap, £38 for initial consultation and then £34 for following appointments (lasting 45 - 60 mins) but for me its been worth every penny as i would say its definitely helped me.

Acupuncture Helps Me
I totally agree, acupuncture really helped me too. I also read an amazing book "A Headache in the Pelvis - 6th edition by David Wise. It talks all about trigger points in the pelvic and vaginal area. A must read for pelvic pain sufferers.

Re: Accupuncture helps me
hi, i just wondered if you could tell me how it helps? like i don't really understand how it helps the vulval burning (if that is exactly what you have) if the accupuncture isn't actually on the vulva (just guessing there lol but i presumed it was in the legs or something). sorry to sound thick but i know nothing about accupuncture and just wondered why it can help there as it may be something i could try in the future

Acupuncture Helps Me
For me acuptuncture really helped with tight trigger points that I had in my buttocks, front and back of legs, and on my stomach between my belly button and pelvic bone. These trigger points referred pain in side my vagina. I also do daily internal massage of the vagainal muscles that I learnt at pelvic therapy to help. I carry a lot of tension in my pelvic area. I read a great book about trigger points call "A Headache in the Pelvis" by David Wise. A must read all about trigger points. I hope this helps

Re: Accupuncture helps me
Re: how does accupuncture help relieve V pain/burning (sorry for delay in reply!)
One of the theories of V (as i understand it) is that the pain receptors in the vulva go haywire (they have an exagerrated response to stimuli, or they become extra sensitive to stimuli). If I can remember correctly what my accupuncurist told me, the accupuncture helps to regulate the pain pathways and 'gates' in the body. The oversensitivity/exagerrated response in vvd can be due to the pain gateways being too 'open' and accupuncture helps regulate the pain gates and triggers the body's natural pain relievers (endorphins). She also talked about energy lines and releasing blocked energy which can cause pain. Must confess I don't fully understand the technical details (so may not have explained this very well or accurately!) I just know and trust that it helped reduce my pain.
The needles are not placed on the vulva (brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it!) - the closest mine got was a few below my belly button and one either side of my pubic mound. The rest were on my feet, legs and lower back. On some of my treatments the needles were connected to an electrical current to enhance the effect (the current is variable to select a comfortable level) - its not as bad as it sounds, honest! The needles didn't hurt going in and were left in place for about 20mins. If I didn't have the electrical current my accupuncturist would twiddle the needles occasionally to get a similar effect.
Apparently its normal for symptoms to worsen slightly initially after treatment tho I don't remember that happening with me. It can also take a couple of sessions to feel the benefits.
