Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Have low free testosterone Empty Have low free testosterone

Post  Kam10 Sun Apr 15, 2012 2:21 am

Some of you might have already read my rantings on Facebook, but I also wanted to share this here. I had an appointment with my vulvodynial specialist last week. I took the book When Sex Hurts in and explain the how birth control can mess with your hormones, causing provoked vulvodynia theroy. She didn't seem to think much of this, I believe her exact words were, "Andrew Goldstien thinks pills cause everything." She's also doing research on this and so far they aren't finding much of a connection. She also said my hormones looked fine under a microscope. My cells always look well estrognized when she examines them. I then asked her is she can tell if anything about my testosterone levels by looking at my cells and she said no. So after I insited, she did agree to test my free testorone levels humor me. And what do you know, they were low.

I was only tested for free testostorone, but since my cells see to have enough estrogen, I was OK with having that test omitted. My free testosterone was below 0.3 pg/ml. The lab considered the normal range 0.3-2.2 pg/ml. It does seem every lab has their own normal range for free testorone in women. I got the impression that my lab's normal range was lower than some of the other normal ranges listed. So I think it's safe to say, my free testorone levels are low and need to be brought back up.

I'm going to stop taking the birth control pill since that can cause low levels of free testosterone. My doctor also perscriped a hormonal cream that I'm to apply to my vulva twice a day. I go back for a follow up in three months. The doctor said it could take about 3 months for the cream to start working. The cream is .02 percent estradiol and .1% testosterone.

I do want to stress that though I think the birth control caused this issue in me, I also can't prove it. This the first time I had a hormone test. It's very possible I had this problem my whole life and never realized it. Also, not eveyone on the pill will have this problem, so I don't want to cause a panic. I also won't know my low free testosterone levels are the cause of my pain. I strongly suspect this is since the other medicine (various antidepressents and Lyrca) did nothing for me. However, I won't know if there is a connection until my free testostereone levels return to normal. When that happens and if I have reducted pain, that I'd say that is the problem. However, if my pain stays the same, then this could be a coincidence. However, for the first time in a while, I'm hopeful I've found a cause.

I just wanted to share my store in case this could help anyone else. I know this situation will not apply to a lof of you. We all have unique situations that gave us this condition. If you feel like this or anything else could be an issue don't be afraid to be assertive and fight to get the tests done and be heard. You never know when you might find something helpful.

I'll have not started the using the medicine yet, but I will keep you updated.
