Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

hello,

i was wondering if anyone can help me.

Back in June i had thrush - so i used two pessaries which stung like hell. The thrush cleared up.

About a week later i was due for my period and i remember wiping myself hard about a few times to see if i had started yet. This was about 6 weeks ago.

That made it sting. It has been pretty much stinging ever since and just generally uncomfortable.

i went to the docs they had a look and thought it might have been a cyst then turned to a boil and gave me antibiotics.

That didnt work.

I went back and i asked for a swab to be taken - they said they cant see any infection but did it anyway. I am waiting for the results to see if their is an infection.

The doc also gave me some steriod cream - which i started using yesterday.

I suffer from massive anxiety and depression - i am currently weaning off of anti depressants - so all i am doing is focusing on the pain down there at the moment and it is making me miserable.

is there any advice or tips you can give me please.

i am desperate.

thank you x

Hello Julie, You poor sweetie. I think you should go to a Gyno. Reg. Dr.s really dont have much of a clue when it comes to vagina's. They used to tell me "Everything looks fine." But I was thinking "then why in the Hell does it hurt so much". A Gyno can diagnose the problem much better. You could have a number of things going on. Bacterial inf., strep, fissure, you could have irritated it by wiping hard, etc. It could be anything. Try not to worry too much until you get a diagnosis.

For the time being buy some oatmeal bath stuff, run some cool water in the tub and sit in it for 15 mins. You can do that twice a day. You can buy it at CVS or Walgreens. Also try using an ice pack. You can sit on it, but only use it for a few minutes. You can use some A and D ointment on the vulva area only, dont put it inside the vagina. If possible, dont wear underwear and wear skirts instead of pants.

I hope that helps. Good luck to you. hugs

Im not familiar with Replens. Im 47 yrs old and I have dryness on the outside as well as the inside. For the inside I just use K-Jelly or Astro Lube or any other kind of intercourse lube. I pour some into a small plunger (same thing you use when you use the cream YI med) and put it in that way. For the outside I use a bit of A and D ointment.

I noticed that you said you suffer from anxiety and Depression. I used to suffer from depression too. Im Bipolar and my meds have kept me pretty stable. Are you taking anything for the anxiety? Anxiety feels just horrible, I suffer from that as well. I take Lorazepam for my anxiety.

Anyways, I hope you feel better soon. Take care. hugs

Hi there - i've replied earlier to your other post about leaving things alone down there. I noticed from your first post here that you suffer from anxiety and depression. I was wondering if your anxiety causes you to tense your body? I'm a bit of a stress -head and often find myself clenching my teeth, tensing my abdomen/pelvis or generally holding tension somewhere in my body without realising i've done it (i've become much more aware of it since my vvd and now make a real effort to be more aware of my body). I think this tension has played a definite role in my vvd.

Vvd pain is awful and understandably could be affecting your depression. If upping your dosage a little helps you get through this then so be it. Once your pain is less (i'm sure you will find something on this forum that will help you) you can get back on track with your withdrawal plan.
