Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hormones
Another thing I'm wondering about is hormones, have any of you had your hormones checked? The reason I ask is because my cycle has changed alot in the last year and seems to be getting ever closer together which makes me think something is going on with my hormones.

Re: Hormones
Hi Sarah,
Unfortunately no. But I'm sure I had hormonal imbalances in my body for a while because my period wasn't regular for the first 10 years. Its regular now. But when I'm stressed, it skips a month or it comes late.
So I guess has anything changed in your life over the past year that could effect your cycle? i.e. additional stress?
It doesn't hurt to get tested, especially if you can't think of anything that can account for it. Perhaps a thyroid problem which could negatively effect your body.
Take care,
Sue

Re: Hormones
Stress always has the opposite effect on me and delays my periods but it's getting ridiculous how close together they're getting and I feel like I'm always due for one! I don't think it's my thyroid, I had some blood tests done recently for my joint problems and I'm sure the thyroid was one of them. One more thing to try and persuade my doctor to do then!

Yes, do get it checked out. Has your medication changed in the past year?

Re: Hormones
Only the addition of strong painkillers for my joints in the last couple of months but I had problems with the vulvar before that happened. Otherwise it's just the same stuff I've taken for years. I'm not on birth control either and haven't been for years so I can't blame that either! I can't think of a single reason for this change in cycle except for hormones, I'm 37 which I know alot of doctors consider too young to be perimenopausal but my Mum was completely menopausal by the time she was mid forties so it's a possibility.

Re: Hormones
I forgot to say I talk to a couple of women with the same symptoms on another forum and they've both had a change in their cycle too with their periods getting closer together so I think there must be something in it.

Re: Hormones
My hormones were not tested but I did notice that with the onset of the vulvodynia my cycle started to get shorter and shorter, with this I was coming on nearly ever 2.5 weeks and got anaemic (really dont know if I have spelt that right! lol)
I was also getting IBS symptoms at the begining of ever period and was getting dizzy and nearly blacked out once.
the gynea tried me Cerezette (to stop my period) I bled a litte for 3 months!! then did not have a period for 6 months. Even tho it was nice not to get period pains and pmt the Vulvodynia did not get better and i got quite dry
Then I was put on standard combined pill - mycrogynon but the pain was just as bad and even a little worse
He concluded that hormones are not my problem so I am being refered to vulva clinic
All that faffing took over a year!!
Grrrrrrr

Re: Hormones
My GP this morning refused to check my hormone levels even though my periods are getting closer and closer together! According to her as long as it still resembles a normal cycle it doesn't matter if it's normal for you or not. Typical!

That's crazy! thats what happened to me, my periods getting closer and closer!
Lucky they have settled down a bit now, drs are such muppets sometimes!
Re: Hormones
Like we want tests as entertainment because we have nothing better to do. I am on the contraceptive pill and use it to control my period, having one every three months or so, as i am sensitive to pads and tampons and it always gets worse. Ive never had any problems with regularity. My mum had her thyroid removed and my sister has Polycystic ovarian syndrome, so her hormones are all out of whack- so I thought testing my hormones might be a valuable exercise. My GP at the time dismissed it completely and actually sighed and said something like, "I don't think you need any more tests". I suggested to him that actually, I need as many tests as it takes until you find what the fuck is wrong with me, and left. You guys have reminded me to raise this with my new, far more helpful, GP.

Re: Hormones
I know this thread is over a year old, but I was interested to know if anyone ever had their hormone levels tested??
I've been doing some research on Dr. Andrew Goldstein's belief that many cases are linked to bc use and hormonal imbalances. Then I was researching symptoms of hormonal imbalances and found that many of the other random symptoms I'm experiencing (Chronic fatigue, irritability, dizziness) are also possibly connected to hormone changes. I was on bc (Lessina) when this all began, and had been for 7 years... I was also going through a very stressful time when the symptoms appeared (which could also throw hormone levels off, from what I've read online). I stopped the bc about 1 1/2 weeks ago because of other things I'd been reading..
I'm going back to the dr. on Monday and also to a new gyno soon. I'm definately going to ask them to check my hormone levels. My last blood test showed nothing for diabetes, anemia or thyroid. I've read some success with testosterone treatments.
Any luck with this??
