Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

I currently suffer from TMJ and vulvodynia and I notice that when my TMJ flares, my vulvodynia is calm and vice versa. Does anyone else notice this, or am I crazy for thinking there is a link between the two?

I also had TMJ way before V. The TMJ eventually went away though. I had it during a stressful situation, similar to how V started. I am wondering if they are both Fibromyalsia type syndromes. Not sure.

Your not crazy I have TMJ too. I actually read the other day that relaxing the jaw causes the pelvic floor to relax. I was reading a meditation book. Interesting stuff.

My mum also has TMJ and she has lupus - the whole thing is autoimune. My mums lupus flares when she is stressed as does my painful bladder syndrome TMJ and vulvodynia.

Just curious, does your mom follow any special diet to help autoimmune conditions? I know I eat way to crappy, but not sure what direction to go for diet. It's interesting about autoimmune, since I broke out with petechaie after taking antiobiotics 6 months ago. Petechaie is an autoimmune thing...and after that the V kicked in. The petechaie never went away (and doctors don't seem to be concerned...go figure...are they ever?). Anyway, would like some recomendations if you have any for diet on that...

I had it so bad my mouth wouldn't even open (was eating through a straw) for something like 2 weeks straight. I begged the dr for an arthritis drug (since I heard from a friend of a friend that it helped her TMJ). He thought it was a stupid idea, but he felt bad for me since I was set to get married at the time. Anyway, the TMJ went away with the drug and never came back.
